Yushin “Thunder” Okami Released by UFC
The most successful Japanese fighter in the UFC’s history, former title challenger 32 year old Yushin “Thunder” Okami (30-8), has been released from the promotion.
Okami is coming off a 1st round TKO loss to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC Fight Night 28, that halted a 3 fight win streak over Buddy Roberts (TKO), Alan Belcher (UD),and Hector Lombard (SD).
The win streak did come on the heels of back to back losses to Tim Boetsch and being knocked out by Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 134. In his time in the UFC “Thunder” amounted a 13-5 mark. Okami also holds wins over Mark Munoz and Nate Marquardt.
When asked about the situation on twitter, UFC President Dana White said the division is stacked.
