UFC Fight Night 33 adds Whittaker vs. Melancon
A Welterweight battle of powerful strikers has been added to UFC Fight Night 33 pitting TUF “Smashes” winner Robert Whittaker (11-3) opposite Strikeforce vet Brian Melancon (7-3).
Whittaker defeated Brad Scott by unanimous decision to become one of two winners of TUF UK vs. Australia and followed that up with a TKO of TUF 16 winner Colton Smith at UFC 160. Whittaker will now look to get back in the win column after a UFC Fight Night 27 split decision loss to fellow TUF winner Court Mcgee.
Melancon debut is the UFC with a 1st round knock out of Seth Baczynski at UFC Fight Night 27. On a quick turn around, as a late replacement Melancon next faced TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum; and lost the bout by 1st round submission.
UFC Fight Night 33 take place on December 6, at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, in Queensland, Australia; and is headlined by Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva meeting Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt in a Heavyweight collision.
