Featherweight Tournament Final on November 15

The season 9 Featherweight tournament will come to a conclusion on November 15 with either Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (22-2)become the first 3 time Bellator tournament winner or Justin Wilcox (11-5) in just his third Featherweight bout earns his first world title shot.

Freire a member of Team Pitbull and Team Nogueira has won 3 fights in a row since a split decision loss to Bellator Featherweight champion Pat Curran; including knocking out Diego Nunes in the quarterfinals and defeating Fabricio Guerreiro by unanimous decision in the semifinals.

American Kickboxing Academy product Wilcox entered this tournament as a late replacement for Shambulat Shamalaev. In the quarterfinals Wilcox came from behind to submit Akop Stepanyan and in the semifinals grinned out Joe Taimanglo for the unanimous decision victory.

On November 15 Bellator MMA will be at the Revel in Atlantic City, New Jersey; and in the main event Alexander Shlemenko defends the Bellator Middleweight title against Doug Marshall. The event will either be Bellator 108 or 109 depending on if the Pay Per view on November 4 is Bellator Tito vs. Rampage or Bellator 106.
