King of the Cage Press Reeaser- Rancho Cucamonga, CA (October 22, 2013) King of the Cage set a new standard this past Saturday night, at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas Nevada, launching the World™s Top Amateur MMA fighters, into lucrative professional careers. Forty (40) fighters competed in the first ever World Amateur Championships for the opportunity to be one of the five that would share the $250,000 professional contracts that were awarded for this one night of live fighting that was broadcast live exclusively on Mav TV.

Top honors of the night went to Anthony McDonald of Oregon, who was awarded the $100,000 professional contract; Saad Ul-Hassan of California finished second for $50,000, along with Sam Hess of Arizona placed third for $50,000; Frank Schuman of Wisconsin had a strong performance in one of the fights of the night and finished 4th for $25,000; and 5th place was Aaron Williams of California also with a $25,000 contract.

When asked about the event, Terry Trebilcock, Founder & President of King of the Cage stated “this was a major victory for the sport of MMA. Lucas Oil, the Palms Casino Resort and Mav TV who all came together to support an event that would change the life of these five MMA fighters. Knowing that their careers have a real plan and that their first fifteen fights have guaranteed National Television exposure, they have put themselves as the front runners for the next ten years of MMA. Sponsors, trainers and national notoriety all come far easier with this kind of opportunity. In addition, the fan support who voted online during the event was overwhelming with over 40,000 votes cast from both the television audience watching and fans inside The Pearl Theater. This was certainly an historic night for MMA and King of the Cage.

This is a dream come true for me to see my hard work and training rewarded with a professional contract and the opportunity to continue to prove myself inside the cage. I want to thank all of my friends and fans who voted for me and helped me reach a goal I’ve had since I was a kid,’ said fourth place winner Frank Schuman, who also received the highest amount of online votes.

King of the Cage already has its plans set for the 2014 event where seven casino properties around the country will have Qualifiers twice throughout the year. This will exempt the winner for each location on both nights to the World Amateur Championships Finals again. Along with the six to seven amateur champions, those twenty (20) fighters will make up close to half of the field in next year.
