Bellator 112 Features, Straus-Curran III & Welterweight Quterfinals
The first title defense of Daniel Straus (22-4) Bellator Featherweight reign will come against a familiar foe, the man he dethroned as champion Pat Curran (19-5)in the main event of Bellator 112 on March 14, at the venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana.
Straus is currently on a 6 fight winning streak that includes decision wins over Jeremy Spoon, Mike Corey, and Marlon Sandro in route to winning the season 6 tournament. Straus also submitted Alvin Robinson before the victory over Curran.
After winning the season 2 lightweight tournament Curran would lose to Eddie Alvarez in a Lightweight title bout at Bellator 39. Curran would move to Featherweight and defeat Luis Palomino (SUB), Ronnie Mann (UD), and Marlon Sandro in route to winning the 2011 Summer Series Featherweight tournament. By knockout Curran would end the reign of then champion Joe Warren. Twice Curran would defend the championship against Patricio Freir (SD) and Shahbulat Shamhalaev.
Two of the four Welterweight tournaments quarterfinals where also announced as “Fight Master” winner Joe “Diesel” Riggs (40-14) faces Sam Oropeza (10-2) and War Machine (14-5) meets Nah-Shon Burrell (11-3).
