Askren Will Fight for One FC Welterweight Gold in Debut
Former Bellator Welterweight champion “Funky” Ben Askren (12-0) has announced that his debut in One FC will come in a title match against the winner of the One FC 14: War of Nations, main event, inaugural Welterweight title bout between Brock Larsen (37-7) and Nobutatsu Suzuki (10-1-2).
Askren’s debut is expected to take place at One FC 15 in May at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. “Funky” recently signed with the promotion as a free agent is former Olympic Wrestler and owner of one of MMA’s most smothering ground games. As Bellator champion Askren successfully defended the title 4 times with decision victories over Jay Hieron and Douglas Lima; while winning stopping Karl Amoussou and Andrey Koreshkov with TKO’s.
