UFC Fight Night Auckland Headlined by Te Huna vs. Marquardt
The Middleweight debut of James Te Huna (16-7) will come against Nate Marquardt (32-13-2) who will be making his 185 lbs. return; in the main event of the first event UFC’s first trip to New Zealand.
On June 28 at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand, UFC Fight Night Auckland takes place.
Te Huna rebounded from a submission loss to Alexander Gustafsson with 4 fight win streak, defeating Ricardo Romero (KO), Aaron Rosa (TKO), Joey Beltran (UD), and Ryan Jimmo (KO). But Te Huna has since been submitted by Glover Teixeira and knocked out by Shogun Rua, prompting the move down a weight class.
Marquardt is a former King of Pancrase, Strkieforce Welterweight champion, and UFC Middleweight title challenger; who is 1-3 in his last 4 fights. Since knocking out Tyron Woodley to win the Strkieforce Welterweight crown Marquardt has lost consecutive bouts to Tarec Saffiedine (UD), Jake Ellenberger (KO), and Hector Lombard (KO).
