Aldo – Mendes II Headlines UFC 167
UFC ranked number 1 Featherweight contender Chad “Money” Mendes (16-1) has officially earned his 2nd shot at UFC World Featherweight champion Jose Aldo (24-1), which will take place on August 2, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Team Alpha Males Mende’s since a UFC 142 knock out loss to Aldo, has won 5 fights in a row climbing back up the mountain. In that span Mendes scored 4 straight wins by (T)KO over Cody McKenzie, Yaotzin Meza, Darren Elkins, and Clay Guida. Most recently “Money” defeated Nik Lentz by unanimous decision.
Nova Uniao’s Aldo has won 17 consecutive fights and 9 where title bouts. Since the knock out of Mendes Aldo has decision-ed Frankie Edgar, TKO’ed Chan Sung Jung, and decision-ed Ricardo Lamas. Aldo the last WEC Featherweight champion is still the only ever UFC Featherweight champion.
