Curran – Pitbull II Main Events Bellator 123
The first title defense of Pat Curran’s (20-5)2nd title reign will come on September 5 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connectucut; against season 9 tournament winner Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (21-2).
The two men first met at Bellator 85 with Curran escaping with the Bellator Featherweight title after a split decision. This rematch was originally announced to headline Bellator 121, but was canceled due to a Curran injury.
After losing the Featherweight title to Daniel Straus by unanimous decision at Bvellator 106. Curran was granted a immediate rematch at Bellator 112, that he would win by submission late in the 5th round.
Preire has won 4 fights in a row, including defeating Diego Nunes (KO), Fabricio Silva (UD), and Just Wilsox (TKO); to win the season 9 Featherweight tournament.
Also at Bellator 123 former tournament winner Brennan Ward will face UFC vet James Irvin (17-10).
