12 Bout Bellator 130 card Headlined by Newton vs. Vassell
Bellator 130 on October 30th, will be headlined by Linton “The Swarm” Vassell (14-3) challenging “The Hardcore Kid” Emanuel Newton (24-7) for the Bellator Light Heavyweight championship.
Newton will be on a 6 week turn around after having successfully defended his title at Bellator 124 knocking out Joey Beltran by 3rd round, spinning back fist. The win was also Newton’s 6th in a row and 3rd stoppage of the 6 straight wins.
England’s Vassell has won 9 consecutive bouts with 6 coming y stoppage. Vassell is 3-0 in Bellator with a decision over Matt Jones and rear naked chokes of Trevor Carlson and Virgil Zwicker. The win over Zwicker was his most recent and came in July at Bellator 122.
The Bellator 130 co-main event will be a Heavyweight collision between Bobby Lashley (11-2), who won his 4th in a row submitting Josh Burns at Bellator 123, and undefeated Englishmen Karl “The Wrecking Machine” Etherington (9-0).
Also on the main card will be the Bellator debut of former Strikeforce champion and Invicta FC title challenger, submission ace Marloes Coenen (21-6) meets Italy’s Annalisa “No Fear” Bucci (7-3), winner of 7 of her last 8.
Getting the main card started will be the return of season 4 Lightweight tournament winner Dave Jansen (19-2), who is still owed his title shot, taking on fellow former tournament winner Rick Hawn (18-3).
