Anthony Birchak vs Joe Soto take II
A Bantamweight bout between Joe “One Bad Mofo” Soto (15-3) and Anthony “El Toro” Birchak (11-2) that was scheduled for UFC will now take place on June 6th, at UFC Fight Night New Orleans.At UFC 177, Soto vs. Birchak was cancelled after one half of the events scheduled title bout main event, challenger Renan Barao hurt himself during weight cutting. This gave Joe Soto the former Bellator Featherweight and Tachi Fights Bantamweight champion, the opportunity of a lifetime. A UFC debut main event title shot. Soto would give his all, but would fall short losing by 5th round knockout to reining Bantamweight king TJ Dillashaw. The loss put an end to a 6 fight win streak.
Due to the late change at UFC 177, Birchak the former MFC Bantamweight champion would have to wait over 3 months to make his octagon debut. Birchak would make his promotional debut in front of his hometown fans at UFC on Fox 13, but after scoring a early knock down Birchak would get caught in and be forced to tap to an Ian Entwistle heel hook; snapping a 5 fight win streak.
