Rousey-Holm Main Events UFC 195
This morning on the show “Good Morning America” Ronda Rousey (12-0) announced she’ll be back in action on January 2, 2016, at UFC 195 defending the Woman’s UFC Bantamweight World Championship against multiple time Boxing World Champion, “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holly Holm (9-0).
UFC 195 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The announcement comes as a surprise considering that after her UFC on Fox 16 win Over Jessica Eye, the UFC and Dana White had said that Meisha Tate, with a 4 fight win streak, had earned the opportunity to fight Rousey for the 3rd time.There’s been no reason given for the change.
Rousey has successfully defended a Woman’s Championship belt 7 times. This fight coming up will be her 7th UFC World Title defense. Of the 12 times Rousey has stepped into a cage only Tate has made it out of the first round. In her last 4 fights Rousey has defeated Sara McMann (tko), Alexis Davis (ko), Cat Zingano (sub), and Bethe Correia; in a combined 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
Holm, a long time member of the Jackson-Wink camp is no stranger to championships having won nearly 20 of them in the boxing ring and also being the 1st evere Legacy Woman’s Bantamweight champion. During her time with Legacy FC, Holm scored one of the top knock outs of 2013, with her head kick knock out of Allanna Jones. Since joining the UFC Holm has maintained her undefeated record in MMA with decision wins over Raquel Pennington and Marion Reneau.
Right now is a huge time for the Jackson-Wink camp as John Dodson is set to challenge Demetrious Johnson for the UFC Flyweight World Championship (UFC 191).Carlos Condit is set to Challenge Robbie Lawler for the UFC Welterweight World Championship (UFC 193). Donald Cerrone is set to Challenge Rafael Dos Anjos for the UFC Lightweight World Champion (UFC on Fox 17). Andrei Arlovski is closing in on another Championship Opportunity. Jon Jones will be in a title fight when he returns to action.
