New Main Event official for UFC 200
Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 2 is a forgotten thought that we can stop talking about, now that the doctors have cleared Daniel Cormier & Jon “Bones” Jones.
Dana White has announced that on July 9th at UFC 200, Daniel Cormier (17-1) & Jon Jones (22-1) will battle to unify the UFC Light Heavyweight title.
Just days ago Jon Jones returned to the octagon for the first time in a year and a half, to win all 5-rounds of his UFC 197 main event, interim title fight against Ovince Staint Preux. The bout was originally scheduled to be against Cormier, but due to a lower leg injury, Cormier was forced to withdraw. “Bones” has won 13 fights in a row and never lost, but was stripped of his title, due to having legal issues to deal with in his personal life.
Following Jones being stripped of the title, Daniel Cormier was then inserted against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187; winning the vacant title with a 3rd round rear naked choke. Since then Cormier has defended the title with a split decision win over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192.
