The Glory KickBoxing ring has been set up at The Novo by Microsoft in LA, California, for Glory 37; featuring a 4-man Welterweight tournament and 2 World Title contests.
In the Super Fight Series Main Event Canadian, Matt Embree (39-7, 18 KO’s) challenges Roman Van Roosmalen (36-6) for the Glory Featherweight title. Embree made his promotional debut and earned this title shot, winning a one-night 4-man tournament, knocking out ChiBin Lim and Giga Chikadve. The Dutch champion was the first fighter in Glory to win titles in 2 divisions, also having been the Glory Lightweight champion. In his Featherweight debut Van Roosmalen took the title with a TKO of Gabriel Varga.
*At the weigh-in’s Van Roosmalen failed to make weight and therefore gave up the title on the scale. With a a win Embree will be champion, Van Roosmalen could only earn the number one contender spot.
The Glory 36 Main Event will see New Zealand’s Israel Adesanya (65-3, 27 KO’s) challenging Jason Willnis (29-6-1) of The Netherlands for the Glory Middleweight title. Adesanaya like Embree earned his title shot with a tournament win, besting Robert Thomas and Yousri Belgaroui by decision. Wilnis is on a 3 fight win streak taking decision wins over Filip Verlinden and Joe Schilling. The champion victory came at Glory 33 TKO-ing Simon Marcus.
Both champions will be defending their title for the first time.
