14 Fights & A Good Cause combine at Rubicon V
Saturday, July 22n,d the Massari Arena in Pueblo, Colorado, plays host to Top Shelf Entertainment LLC’s Rubicon V “Look Twice” Save a Life”. The card currently consisting of 14 mixed martial arts contests, 6 professional, 8 amateur, with 1 more amateur bout in the works, has 3 championship bouts scheduled.
The event will be in honor of Jordan Munoz, a Pueblo Colorado resident, who a year ago was fatally in motor vehicle accident. The tragedy inspired the “Look Twice Save a Life” campaign.
The nights main event is a title bout at 170 lbs. with Adam Vigil (2-0) against Willy Najera (1-0). Vigil after a 6-2 amateur run is 2-0 as pro, knocking out Chip Avinger in 55 seconds and defeating William Gravley by unanimous decision. Najera went 2-2 as an amateur and will be fighting for the first time since his pro debut, first round TKO of Travis Aragon, in August of 2015, at the first Rubicon event.
The co-main event has Manuel Gallardo vs. Eric Grant. The rest of the pro card includes LFA vets Adam Martinez and Jordan Tioni against Impluse MMA’s Joey Tervino and Jake Mendez. On a 4 fight win streak Robert Fraterrelli squares of with Levi Lucero of Lookouts PFS. Winner of 3 out of 4 Phil Gonzalez takes on Cody Hoffstatter, who’s won 2 straight.
The other two title fights will be on the amateur side of the card as Dylan Stubblefield defends the his Featherweight title against Fernando Sanchez of Lookouts PFS. The battle for the amateur Bantamweight will see Colorado’s Keenan Blumenschein against Slade Ring from JacksonWink MMA.
