Borg vs. Benavidez & Barber vs. Stevenson added to Fight Night Denver
The UFC’s 25th anniversary has gained two additions a Flyweight bout between title contenders & a Strawweight bout between a top prospect an a TUF alum.
At Flyweight Ray “The Tazmexicandevil” Borg (11-3) face Joseph Benavidez (25-5). Borg hasn’t fought since being submitted at UFC 216, in a failed attempt to dethrone Demetrious Johnson, then Flyweight champion. Since then for a variety reasons 3 times a match-up with Brandon Moreno fell apart. In June, Benavidez returned from a torn ACL, losing a split decision to Sergio Pettis, which ended a 6 fight win streak. Borg found the finish in 7 of his first 8 wins. The last 3 have come by decision. Benavidez has 15 finishes in his career, but the last 6 fights have all went the distance.
In the women’s strawweight division TUF 26 alum, Maia Stevenson looks to rebound from a submission loss to Polyana Viana, when she tangles with LFA vet Maycee “The Future” Barber, who earned her UFC contract with a TKO of Jamie Colleen on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
UFC Fight Night 139 is November 10 at the Pepis Center in Denver, Colorado.
