Lightweight Title Bout set for UFC 242

The UFC’s Lightweight title will be unified in September,. Champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov will face interim champ Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier at UFC 242.

Nurmagomedov (27-0) last fought at UFC 229 submitting Conor MeGregor in the 4th round. After the fight “The Eagle” jumped out of the cage engaging in a physical altercation with McGregor’s corner. The Russian born fighter has been serving a suspension since.

Poirier (25-5-1) is 9-1-0, with 1 no contest, since moving up 10 lbs. to Lightweight. Currently on a four fight win streak, the Louisiana native won 3 straight by knockout, before claiming the interim title  beating Max Holloway by decision at UFC 236.

UFC 242 is September 7 in Abu Dhabi.
