Diamond & Barbosa to battle for Featherweight title in LFA 79 Headliner
Legacy Fighting Alliance will crown a new Featherweight champion at LFA 79.
Tyler Diamond will face Rafael Barbosa for the belt that was vacated by Damon Jackson when he signed with the Professional Fighter League. The announcement on AXS TV during the main card of LFA 74.
Diamond made a successful promotional debut at LFA 66, defeating Jon Neal by unanimous decision. A cast member of season 27 of The Ultimate Fighter, Diamond has 5 of his 6 finishes by knockout. A representative of Team Alpha, Diamonds roots come from wrestling, which he started at the Age of 11 & took all the way to competing for Division I school, North Dakota State.
Brazil’s Rafael Barbosa is on a 7-fight win streak, 6 have by stoppage. Cameron Graves, who Barbosa fought in his promotional debut at LFA 63 is the lone fighter to see the final bell during this streak. If that win didn’t garner attention, then it was definitely his first round TKO of Nate Jennerman in the main event of LFA 68. Altogether Barbosa has 8 of his 12 victories by stoppage.
LFA 79 will take place October 11th at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium in Riverside, California.
