MacDonald vs. Lima 2 headlines Bellator 232

The finals of the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix are set for the final Saturday of October.

The 2nd part of Bellator MMA’s back to back in Connecticut will have the Welterweight title on the line in the main event as Douglas “The Phenom” Lima looks to regain the title from Rory “Red King” MacDonald.

MacDonald (21-5-1) became Bellator Welterweight champion with a unanimous decision win over Lima at Bellator 192. MacDonald then failed to become a multiple division champion suffering a TKO loss to Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 206. The “Red King” made his way to the Grand Prix finals by a controversial decision over Jon Fitch in the quarterfinals & a unanimous decision win over Neiman Gracie in the semifinals.

Lima (31-7) rebounded from his loss to MacDonald, which ended a 3-fight win streak, by submitting Andrey Koreshkov with a rear naked choke in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals Lima swept out the front leg of Michael Page, scoring the knockout with a left uppercut as Page tired to get off the canvas.

Bellator 232 is October 25th at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.
