2020 Contender Series, Episode 2 results

The UFC Apex innLas Vegas, Nevada hosts week 2 of the 2020 season of Dana White’s Contender Series taking place on ESPN+.

Impa Kasanganay remains unbeaten after a grinding effort against Anthony Adams, even scoring a a 10-8 after having Adams in major trouble in the second. Powerful ground & pound from TJ Laramie stifled the Daniel Swain submission game causing a injury that would see Swain be forced to call off the fight after the first round. Cory McKenna scored with her stikes took Vanessa Demopoulos to the ground, escaped multiple submissions and scored with her ground and pound to win by unanimous decision. Adrian Yanez let his hands go four hooks two from each side land clean and the ref jumps in saving Brady Huang from more punishment. In the night featured contest Joe Pyfer took Dustin Stolzfus to the mat. Stoltzfus went for a leg lock as Pyfer escpaed Stoltzfus got in on a take-down slamming Pyfer to the mat. Ryfer dislocating his arm as he attempted to post on it when the impact occurred.

This week Dana White had given UFC contracts to Impa Kasanganay, TJ Laramie, Cory McKenna, Adrian Yanez, & Dustin Stoltzfus; all the winners have been signed. Impa Kasanganay will make his UFC on August 22 at UFC Fight Night “Edgar vs. Munhoz”.

  • Bantamweight Bout: Adrian Yanez (11-3) def. Brady Huang (11-2) by KO (punches) 0:39 R1
  • Women’s Strawweight Bout: Cory McKenna (5-1) def. Vanessa Demopoulos (5-2) by (30-27, 29-28 x2) unanimous decision
  • Featherweight bout: TJ Laramie (12-3) def. Daniel Swain (20-10-1) by TKO (rib injury) 5:00 R1
  • Middleweight Bout: Impa Kasanganay (7-0) def. Anthony Adams (8-2) by (29-27 x3)unanimous decision
