Sanchez vs. Matthews added to UFC 253
“The Nightmare” will face “The Celtic Kid” at UFC 253.
News is circulating that TUF 1 winner Diego “The Nightmare: Sanchez will square off with Australia’s Jake “The Celtic Kid” Matthews in a welterweight bout at UFC 253.
Sanchez has won three of his last four fights. At UFC 228 Sanchez beat Craig White and at UFC 235 pounded out Mickey Gall. At UFC 239 Michael Chiesa got the better of Sanchez of the judges’ cards. This past February at UFC Rio Rancho, Sanchez a victim of an illegal knee from Michel Pereira to win by disqualification.
Matthews has won five of six fight since moving up to 170 lbs. The first two wins at welterweight came by decision over Bojan Velickovic & Li Jingliang, before submitting Shinsho Anzai. Following a submission loss to Anthony Martin, Matthews has picked up decision wins over Rostem Akman & Emil Weber Meek.
UFC 253 has also gained Brad Ridddell versus Alex da Silva. Riddell has won five straight, including decision over Jamie Mullarkey & Magomed Mustafaev, while Da Silva won a unanimous decision over Rodrigo Vargas, last August.
UFC 253 is September 26th at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
