A strange end to Diego Sanchez time with the UFC

It appears that the long-time relationship between the UFC and promotional staple Diego Sanchez has come to an end.

Sanchez had been scheduled to face former JacksonWink teammate Donald Cerrone in the co-main event of the UFC Fight Night on May 8th. Surprisingly, news started to leak out on Wednesday that Sanchez had pulled out of the fight. Sanchez throughout Wednesday posted images & videos to Instagram talking about how the camp in Florida had gone, with no explanation for the withdrawal.

The relationship may have taken a turn toward the unsalvageable after Sanchez & team went to social media revealing that back in July after returning to the states from fighting Jake Matthews on Fight Island that Sanchez and his cornerman, Josh Fabia & Stephan Bonnar, had somehow been left at McCarran International Airport. Sanchez’s head coach Josh Fabia according to the post had to contact UFC officials to get and Uber sent to pick the group.

On Thursday Sanchez posted in his Instagram story “Free at last, Free at last” also tagging Bellator MMA, One Championship, Brave Combat Federation, & boxing promoter Teresa Tapia. Obviously, this would lead one to assume that a journey started in 2004 with Sanchez being the first winner of The Ultimate Fighter, has run its course.
