Martinez vs. Mullen headlines Return of Southwest MMA Series
Southwest MMA Series is back!September 18th Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino will host Southwest MMA Series XXXII.
The main event will see unbeaten Jess “Vanilla Gorilla” Martinez against Jason Mullen. Leaving the scorecard out of three of his first five wins Martinez showed he’s a finisher collecting wins by knockout, armbar, & rear naked choke. The Santa Fe native was last competed when he was on the marquee for the first-time defeating Josh Altum by unanimous decision in the main event Southwest MMA Series XXVII. A fight that forced Martinez into using his striking and showed that he could. Mullen is an Ohio native fighting out of Factory X in Englewood, Colorado. Like Martinez, Mullen is dangerous on the ground coming in with hundred finishing rate and favoring forcing his opponent to tap.
The co-main event will see a battle of LFA of LFA vets as Josh Moreno faces Austin Jones. Moreno started off his career leaving a tail of unconscious body behind him with three straight knockouts. Moreno’s last win showed he can grapple too coming by guillotine choke. Jones is a Factory X fighter and Colorado native who had a five-fight win streak that included a pair of wins in the LFA.
Coming off a successful pro debut at LFA 58 Javier Cepeda will step back into the cage for his sophomore performance against Anthony Valenzuela, who will make his pro debut. Both fighters as amateur competed for the Southwest MMA Series.
