Yoel Romero’s Bellator Debut Comes Against Phil Davis
September 18th Yoel Romero will set into the Bellator cage for the first time against Phil Davis in the main event of Bellator 266.
Romero had been scheduled to face Anthony Johnson at Bellator 258 but an issue with his pre-fight medicals forced him to withdraw. The Cuban Olympian in wrestling challenged for the UFC title four times including winning an interim belt in 2018 by knocking out Luke Rockhold.
Davis joined Bellator in 2015 winning a light-heavyweight tournament in his first night submitting Emanuel Newton & TKO-ing Francis Carmont. In 2016 “Mr. Wonderful” dethroned Liam McGeary from a top the division. Davis has won three of his last four fights stopping Liam McGeary & Karl Albrektsson and taking a second decision win over Lyoto Machida.
