Kattar & Chikadze set for 5-round battle
The main event for the first UFC Fight Night of 2022 will be a top ten featherweight showdown.
Number five ranked Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Kattar will square off against number eight Giga “Ninja” Chikadze.
Massachusetts native Kattar has won four of his last six fights. A technical counter striker, Kattar has picked up three of the wins knocking out Chris Fishgold, Ricardo Lamas, & Jeremy Stephens. The other win came by decision over Dan Ige in his first UFC main event. The win propelled Kattar to a match-up with Max Holloway that tested hie resolve and showed the depths of his will.
Chikadze started his MMA career in 2015 already having won world titles in Muay Thai & Kickboxing. Since falling short on the Contender Series in 2018, the native of Georgia has gone on a nine-fight win streak. Chikadze had to rely on the judges’ cards in his first four UFC bout. Over his last three fights the “Ninja” has notched first round knockouts of Jamey Simmons & Cub Swanson, while Edson Barboza last into the third.
UFC Fight Night “Kattar vs. Chikadze” will be January 15th at the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
