Bellator Announces Championship Double Header for April 15th
The finals of the Bellator Light-Heavyweight world Grand Prix have been paired with a rematch to decided featherweight supremacy.
Nemkov is unblemished is his Bellator run a perfect 7-0, overall he riding a nine-fight win streak. In his last three-fights the Fedor protégée has taken the Light-Heavyweight title from Ryan Bader. Beat Phil Davis for the second time in his first title defense. Made it to the Grand Prix finals submitting Julius Anglickas by kimura. TUF 19 winner Corey Anderson rolled the dice on his career leaving the UFC as a free agent and signing with Bellator. The bet by “Overtime” has paid off as Anderson has produced three TKO wins and been presented as one of the faces of the promotion. Anderson punches his ticket to the finals by stopping Ryan Bader in 51 seconds. It’s a winner taker scenario as the world title, the Grand Prix title, and a million dollars is on the line.
The second main event of Bellator 277 will see AJ McKee (18-0) making his first defense of the Bellator Featherweight title against the man the took in he belt from Patricio Freire (32-5). This past July McKee won the Featherweight Grand Prix & world title by submitting Freire with a guillotine choke. It was the 13th finish, seventh submission, and sixth by form of choke. A former Featherweight & Lightweight champion, Freire did collect five title defenses before relinquishing the crown he’s determined to take back from “The Mercenary”.
Bellator 277 is April 15 at the SAP Center in San Jose California.
