Alan Belcher vs Roy Nelson for BK MMA Heavyweight title
Jorge Masvidal has announced plans to crown Gamebred Bare Knuckle MMA’s first Heavyweight Champion in October.
During the fight week press conference for Gamebred Bare Knuckle MMA’s Dos Santos vs. Werdum set for Friday (9/8/23) in Jacksonville; Masvidal announced former BKFC Heavyweight Champion Alan Belcher has signed with the promotion.
Belcher’s debut will be an inaugural Heavyweight title fight against fellow UFC vet and TUF 10 winner Roy “Big Country” Nelson. According to Jorge Masvidal the fight will be October 28th in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Belcher left combat sports in 2013 after 15 fights with the UFC at Middleweight. Belcher returned to the fight business in 2021 and has since won 10 fights, 4 in BKFC, along with 6 in Boxing. in February Belcher captured yeah BKFC heavyweight title by third round knockout of Arnold Adams. In July Belcher was back to boxing where he stopped Chase DeMoor in the third round.
Nelson won “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2009 and remained with the company for 19-fights. After parting way “Big Country” had a 6-fight stint with Bellator. Nelson’s big right hand was back on display in May when he made a successful debut for Gamebred Bare Knuckle MMA scoring a first round knock out of Dylan Cleckler.
The promotions grand plan is for the winner of of Alan Belcher vs. Roy Nelson to make their first title defense against the winner of Junior Dos Santos vs. Fabricio Werdum in January.
