Invicta FC 54 Results, McCormack puts Wojcik out for first title defense
Citizens House of Blues in Boston Massachusetts hosts Invicta FC 54 where a Women’s Strawweight title fight tops a five-fight card.
In the main event Ireland’s Dannie “Mac” McCormack makes her first defense of the Invicta FC Strawweight title against Poland’s Karolina “Polish Assassin” Wojcik. McCormack has had two impressive decision winning performance in the Invicta cage beating Maira Mazar to become the number one contender and dethroning Valesca Machado. Wojcik come to Invicta FC after a win over Sandra Lavado on the Contender Series didn’t yield contract. The “Polish Assassin” has since racked up decision wins over Gloria de Paula & Ediana Silva.
Tested but Still the Champion
Dannie McCormack established cage control early pushing the pace looking for her takedown constantly swinging right hook. Karolina Wojik had her most success in the third frame staying on her bike landing sharp right hands. McCormick would take the judges out of the equation in the fourth round getting to the back of Wojik dragging the polish fighter to the ground wrapping up a rear naked choke putting Wokij to sleep successfully defending for the first time. The 5’8″ Kristina Williams dictated the majority of the co-main event with her reach keeping the 5’3″ Dee Begley along the fence line targeting the legs and body with a variety of kicks. Begley found the takedown she’d been looking for all fight in the third round. Williams would find her way vertical ending the fight pushing forward with a flurry to earn the split decision. Andrea Amaro tripped Hilarie Rose to the mat Rose countered attempting an armbar. Amaro escaped taking Rose’s back as she was trapped on her knees securing a rear naked choke in the first round. Riley Martinez took the back of Julia Dorny tackling her to the ground locking in a rear naked choke for the finish in the first. A heavy jab and low kick based attack from Maria Djukic earned a decision win over Fernanda Araujo in the first fight of the night.
