John Dodson Still Champ but not Done with Dagoberto Aguero

John Dodson is still the BKFC Flyweight, but a rematch is in order.

Heading into the BKFC 59 Main event John Dodson had run through the flyweight division. Dagoberto Aguero was much of an unknown in the Bare-Knuckle world only having one win. Dodson took control of the first as an overhand left sat Augero down. The Dominican pulled ahead a precision counters scored knockdowns of the charging Dodson in the second and third rounds. The champion would take his pressure up another level making the fight dirty staying in Aguero’s face and scoring in the clinch to take the fourth. A low volume fifth round was scene in Dodson’s favor as he was the party continually moving forward. After five-rounds the judges returned mirroring scores, cards reflecting a draw.

BKFC does have a sixth-round option to nullify the possibility of draws but the New Mexico athletic commission didn’t have that rule on the books. It’s expected to be added.

During the post-fight press conference, Dagoberto requested for the inevitable rematch to take place somewhere outside of Dodson ‘s backyard. Dodson said he was willing to fight anywhere in the world.

In the co-main event Donald Sanchez won his third fight in a row.  Sanchez put a heavy emphasis on attacking Dallas Dawson to the body. A break in Sanchez’s pattern saw the right hook go to the head instead of the body as it had for most of the match. The impact sending Dawson to the mat where he would stay as the ref count reached ten. After the fight Sanchez made his desires clear he’d like to fight BKFC Middleweight champion David Mundell.

Nick Kohring blitzed his way through Kyle McElroy scoring two knockdowns in thirty seconds. A wide left hook the first time and the ref jumping in as McElory hit the ground a second time from a short-left Hook.

Ruben Warr scored a first-round knockout win over Lorenzo Coca. Coca knockdown twice was unable to recover from a right hook off the side of his head.

Frank Lester went right to engaging Keith Richardson in the clinch. For a moment, it appeared, as if Richardson was just going be stuck in the cringe and overwhelmed. But finding some daylight Richardson connects with a right hand that instantly caused massive swelling over his left eye. One more left hand was enough for the red.

Early on it looked like Marc Entenberg was going to walk through Van Vo. A left hook had cut Vo open over his left eye. Vo got back in the fight in the third round scoring his own knockdown. Entenberg composed himself and came back to take the fifth round and the majority decision.

Justin Street earned a hard-fought decision over Anthony Sanchez. Sanchez came out hard landing big shots in the first two rounds. Street managed to find his rhythm in the second half of the fight wobbling Sanchez in the fourth & fifth rounds while also opening lacerations across the right side of Sanchez’s face.

Felipe Chavez got his second win in the squared circle by first round knockout. Chavez knocked down Leandro Torres twice. The first time by a jab and finishing the job with a short-left hook.

In Heavyweight action Manuel Otero’s explosive in an out style produced a second-round knockout putting away Mikey Furnier.

After his first fight in BKFC Austin Lewis changed everything.  The adjustments paid off has he utilized his length more and displayed improved head movement winning a unanimous decision over Joshua Richey.
