Griego-Perez Title Fight set for August 10th
In recent years the Duke City has seen two young pugilists in the same weight class claiming the prospect ladder while barbershop talk clamored for the fight. The time has come for that fight to happen.
The second confirm about for the August 10 card at Tingley Coliseum is a showdown between local undefeated fighters as Matthew “Diamond Boy” Griego (10-0) faces Abraham “The Hammer” Perez (10-0) in a 10-round affair for an IBF USBA Championship.
Griego has been idle since last August when he stopped 36-fight vet, Merlito Sabillo in the second round adding a NABA title to his collection that includes an ABF Intercontinental title. “Diamond Boy” has Knockouts on 10 of his 14 victories including the last two.
Perez was an eyelash away from the 2020 Olympics. In his last outing a unanimous decision over Fernando Diaz the 25-year-old won the WBC Youth Silver Flyweight title. “Hammer” power has developed as his pro career has continued going all ten rounds in March ended a three of three consecutive knockouts.
The August 10th card is a partnered event between local promoter Legacy Boxing Promotions & Boxing w powerhouse Top Rank Boxing. The main event will see Luis Alberto Lopez defending the IBF Featherweight world title against Albuquerque native Angelo Leo.
