Fuller dissects Bunnell in statement making Muay Thai debut

There’s only one chance to make a first impression and while it was a reintroduction to Muay Thai for New Mexico Coalition definitely start their journey off on the right foot.

An action packed night had the crowd in the jammed packed Manuel Lujan building in a ruckus for the entire show. The light show on the walls and music throughout the fight brought the authentic atmosphere to the experience.

Jalin Fuller also had a huge impression beautifully transitioning his unorthodox MMA striking to Muay Thai against a highly credentialed advisory.

In the first round Zach Bunnell controlled the action attacking Fuller’s legs. Jalin Fuller came back in the second pressuring with his punching, mixing in his teap, and changing the teap to a question mark kick. Sticking with the bodywork paid off for Fuller as Bunnell twice took a knee in the third round. A step-in knee to the head followed by a left hook scored the third and final knockdown of the round. A third-round knockout win for Jalin Fuller in his pro Muay Thai debut.

Experienced Muay Thai fighter Parker Bruno used his back of tools to assess and breakdown unbeaten MMA fighter Jess Martinez. The offense built from the legs up. A straight right from Parker scored a knockdown. In the second Parker got flashy landing a spinning backfist. Parker turned his attention to Martinez’s body during the middle rounds as Martinez looked to counter with big punches. Martinez fought through visible exhaustion to make to the final bell.

Moving up two weight classes can have its advantages and draw backs. Nickolas Gjelaj was able to utilize a major speed advantage against the bigger Robert Mozisek.  Gjelaj mixed levels ripping off speedy combinations through the first two rounds. The third round saw Gjelaj sit Mozisek down. Mozisek had slowed down Gjelaj over the final two rounds trapping the fight in the clinch. Gjelaj still found a way to cut Mozisek open outside his left eye.  A vastly one-sided decision goes in favor of Nickolas Gjelaj.

Joe Sanderson convincingly won a unanimous decision over Jerry St. Rome in the first pro fight on the card. Sanderson focused his offense on the body brutalizing St. Rome in the clinch with relentless knees.

Jody Oliver claimed the first Coalition amateur male title with unanimous decision win over Kwaku Chin. Oliver had a hot start to the fight sweeping and dumping Chin in a couple instances. As the fight went into deeper waters the Chin offense increased. While visibly tired Oliver gutted his way to the final bell out lasting Chin’s furious come.

A first ever Coalition amateur title bout was earned by Alyssa Clark edging out Haunani Valente in a grueling clinch filled affair that was scored a split decision.  Jacob Gonzalez took a unanimous decision over Adrian Chavez in a all action encounter.

Forward pressure and precision punching earned Oton Moreno a split decision win over Chris Balderes who was stuck on his backfoot most of the fight.

Right hands sent Joe Chavez to the ground twice in the second round. Smelling blood in the water Garcia continued his offensive onslaught ripping off a vicious combination that saw the ref jump in waiving off the bout before a third knockdown could happen.

Abraham Joe Garcia won a unanimous decision over Tim Gutierrez. Garcia scored a knock down in the first from a straight right hand. Gutierrez battled back into the fight in the second controlling action in the clinch. Garcia fug deep pushed the pace and took back control in the third

Draven Harrway scored a second round knockout win over Trevor Pena. Harrway jumped allover Trevor Pena after knocking him down with a body kick. Pena barley beat the 10-count and when action resumes Harrway blitzed through his foe.

A good old fashion thrashing in the clinch earned Nate Mcakee a decision win over Josh Good.Yahin Haggasz stabbed Jess Lucero with Teap kicks. Haggasz’s punches shut Lucero’s right eye and locked to have changed the position of his nose for a finish in 94 seconds.
