Chris Camozzi posts first Defense while Rico Franco makes history at BKFC 73

It was tricky but it’s those kinds of situations where a champions medal is on full display.

Around the world defending his title against a last-minute challenger. Chris Camozzi had to know that Adrea Bicchi had nothing to lose and fought accordingly. Winging big bombs while trying to work his way through Camozzi’s reach advantage Bicchi would bust the champion open between his eyes.  As the adrenaline came down and the fight settled in Camozzi a true vet of the fight game jumped into the driver seat nailing Bicchi with stiff single shots and ripping body work. Camozzi’s footwork turning into his defense disappearing from the telegraphed haymakers Bicchi was throwing.  The Italian’s aggression would work against him as he was forced to take a kneE in the 5th after running into a defensive jab from Camozzi sealing the deal on the scorecards and Camozzi’s first title defense.

The third installment of Sweeney versus Franco delivered just like the previous iterations. While dealing with an early cut over his right eye Sweeney still managed to take an early lead. By the fourth round when it felt like Sweeney had the fight in hand a Franco a left hook put Sweeny on the mat. The momentum remained with Franco as Sweeney left eye nearly closed. The comeback forced overtime where Franco pushed forward and wore down Sweeney.

It was a successful promotional debut and third win in the sport for Haze Kepi stopping Steve Banks in the first round. Kepi’s right hand waws his big weapon a straight right hand scoring the first knockdown and a right crossing put the finishing touches on the performance. Off the Bell Ernesto Papa was right in the face of Toni Estorer throwing big shots. Papa’s right hook collecting two knockdowns in an under a minute and a half for the finish.

Navid Mansouri evaded the Ruslan Tokhtarov pressure by sliding off the center line and crushing the charging Tokhtarov with a right hook for the knockout in 44-seconds. Jindrich Byrtus and Arbi Chakaev got right to exchanging in the pocket. A decision worked out for Byrtus who stopped Chakaev with a counter left hook. Jesus DE Nazaret put Tomas Melis against the ropes unleashing a barrage of alternating hooks for the first-round knockout.

Forward pressure helped earn Nicole Schaefer, a split decision over Sara Brito to improve her record to 2-0 in Bare Knuckle. A pair of second round knock downs gave the wild swinging Waler Pugliesi a decision win over Dominik Herold. Highlight of the prelims was a one punch knockout as Enzo Tobbia froze up Michael Igweba on the ropes from an overhand left. Full Results here.
