Blanchfield – Barber Cancelled at Last Moment, Gamrot Stifles Klein
Just when the music was expected to hit inside the Apex, it didn’t.
The UFC Vegas 107 main event was the opportunity for Erin Blanchfield & Maycee Barber to make their cases for a title shot. Just as the video package eliminating that fact was done playing the broadcast came to a halt. An issue causing a delay to a familiar process. The commentary team came back to announce Maycee Barber was not medically cleared to compete cancelling the scheduled five-rounder. During a backstage interview with Megan Olivia, Blanchfield would say that she was told by the UFC’s Hunter Campbell that barber had suffered a seizure.
In the co-main event Mateusz Gamrot successfully defended his slot in the ranking taking a unanimous decision win over Ludovít Klein. Gamrot got the job done with his relentless wrestling racking up six takedowns and nearly nine minutes of control time.
Ramiz Brahimaj kept his perfect finishing rate intact putting Billy Ray Goff to sleep in the first round. Brahimaj was on Goff’s back inside the first minute of the fight. When Goff escaped, he looked to turn the tables and instead stuck his neck into a high elbow guillotine. The 11th submission win for Ramiz Brahimaj.
Dustin Jacoby made it consecutive knockout wins over Brazilian prospects stopping Bruno Lopes in the first round. Jacoby sat down Lopes with a jab forcing the Brazilian to clinch and once Jacoby broke free he threw out an onslaught of hooks and right hand to cross the finish line.
Ketlen Vieira verse Macy Chiasson had to be changes from a Bantamweight fight to a featherweight bout prior to the weigh-ins. On fight night Vieira would cut off the cage landing big right hands in the first. Chiasson’s attempt at getting the fight to the ground in the second and third would leave her on bottom and on the wrong side of a decision. Top control in the second and third rounds also earned Allan Nascimento a decision over Jafel Filho
Zach Reese sprawled and brawled his way to a decision win over Dusko Todorovic. Jordan Leavitt put Kurt Holobaugh to sleep in the first round with an Anaconda choke. Leavitt took Holobaugh down almost immediately. Holobaugh just as quickly stood up and got suplexed back down. Leavitt quickly jumped on Holobaugh’s neck transitioning from front choke into the Anac0nda and quickly sending Holobaugh into the dream would. Bolaji Oki out struck short notice opponent Michael Awell for a decision win. And Alice Ardelean earned her first UFC win out boxing Rayanne dos Santos for a decision victory.
