Grant claims Interim Title in Competitive Main Event at BKB 41

It didn’t come against the expected opponent, but Jarod Grant has set himself up for a title unification bout. The Duval crowd had expected to see Jarod Grant to face Rawand Oub at BKB 41 but that wasn’t possible, and Jorge Bargallo jumped at the once in a lifetime opportunity to go from curtain jerker to headliner. Grant took his time in the first round analyzing the windmill like punches from Bargallo. Grant found his opening in the second scoring a knockdown off an overhand right. Grant’s success came from popping his jab and paring Bargallo’s left hand to the tune of a unanimous decision win.

Rolando Dy earned a third round TKO win over Roberto Duran Jr. in the co-main event. A back and forth affair for the first two rounds Dy would take over in the third round with two knockdowns. The first came from a straight right hand. Another right hand would to Durans ear almost putting down if it wasn’t for a quick grab if the ropes. Instead of going down Duran would take a left hook to the jaw that did sit him down. With blood coming out of Duran Jr’s left hear the doctor stopped the fight after the third round.

Yampier Ramirez got up off the mat in the first round to stop former champion Brandon Birr in the second round. The Fight of the Night award winner came to an end after Ramirez stuck Birr with a left on the button touch the liver and retouched the chin. Former Heavyweight champion DJ Linderman said he wants his belt back after a clinch filled decision win over Terrell Woods who came in with 100 fights of experience in traditional Boxing. Lailane Mota, a 96-fight kickboxing vet, bulldozed her way through former BYB champion Monica Medina with vicious right hands in the clinch.

Distance management and an educated helped Joshua Sikes cruise to a decision win over Rusty Crowder. A crushing left hook against the ropes earned Tommy Aaron a third-round knockout win over Ryan Jett and garnered Knockout of the Night honors. And the night opened with former BYB champion Jose Fernandez returning to action after two years away due to injury. The story would have a happy ending as a right hook knockdown powered Fernandez to a decision win over Jordan Nash.
