BKB 54: Mayhem in Manchester Delivers Violent Finishes and Statement Performances

Bare Knuckle Boxing returned to England in a major way  as BKB 54: “Mayhem in Manchester” brought a packed night of knockouts, title fights, and veteran performances to the AO Arena in Manchester. The card showcased the promotion’s continued push into the UK market with a lineup blending former boxing world champions, UFC veterans, and some of the most dangerous bare-knuckle specialists in Europe.

The headline attraction centered around former boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi stepping into a bare-knuckle title fight at 45 years old against reigning champion Rolando Dy. But while the main event drew the attention, the rest of the card delivered nonstop violence and momentum-shifting finishes.

Dy Crushes Malignaggi In Two Rounds

Rolando Dy successfully defended the BKB Super Welterweight Championship with a brutal second-round stoppage of Paulie Malignaggi.

Early in the fight, Dy’s comfort in the clinch and willingness to exchange on the inside immediately stood out. An overhand right scored the opening knockdown before a sharp uppercut in close dropped Malignaggi for a second time. Dy never allowed the former boxing champion to settle into rhythm, continuing to pressure and overwhelm him with power shots.

The finish came at 1:53 of round two when an explosive right hand sent Malignaggi down for the third time, forcing the stoppage and cementing Dy’s status as one of BKB’s most dangerous champions.

Wright Retains Welterweight Gold

In the co-main event, Javon Wright defended his welterweight championship with a dominant stoppage victory over Dan Gittens.

Wright established control immediately, scoring three knockdowns in the opening round to completely change the tone of the contest. The champion’s pressure and timing proved too much, and in round two a short right hand sent Gittens bouncing off the ropes, ending the fight at 1:40 of the second round.

Partida Captures Vacant Title

Estevan Partida captured the vacant BKB Super Lightweight Championship with one of the night’s most relentless performances against Kallum Shane.

Partida pushed a suffocating pace from the opening bell, mixing heavy body work with constant pressure and volume punching. As the punishment accumulated, Shane struggled to slow the attack. The referee finally stepped in at just :19 of round six, awarding Partida the stoppage victory and the championship.

Winiarski Forces Corner Stoppage

David Winiarski scored an impressive second-round stoppage over James Connelly.

A straight right hand produced the opening knockdown before another second-round knockdown was rule by the ropes holding Connelly upright. Winiarski continued targeting the damage, eventually busting Connelly’s nose with another straight right, forcing the corner to throw in the towel.

Mitchell Shocks UFC Veteran

One of the night’s biggest surprises came when Danny Mitchell returned to competition and stopped UFC veteran Jack Marshman in just 39 seconds.

Mitchell uncorked a huge left hook-right hook combination that immediately put Marshman in trouble before the referee waved off the bout in the opening round.
