BKB 58 Results: Gustavo Trujillo Retains Heavyweight Title in Miami

MIAMI — BKB 58 delivered a night of bare-knuckle action in Miami on August 29, with Gustavo Trujillo successfully defending the BKB Heavyweight Championship and several explosive finishes highlighting the card.

Trujillo’s title defense against former champion Mick Terrill was the night’s biggest fight, but it was just one of several notable performances as BKB brought another action-packed event to South Florida.

Trujillo Stops Terrill, Offers Immediate Rematch

Gustavo Trujillo remains the BKB heavyweight champion after stopping Mick Terrill at 2:59 of the second round.

The Cuban champion established his jab early, consistently touching Terrill to both the head and body. As the opening round progressed, Trujillo began finding his power and gradually increased the damage.

In the second round, Trujillo zeroed in on Terrill’s right eye, opening a cut before quickly piling on additional punishment.

Terrill had accepted the fight on just three days’ notice, leaving him little opportunity to properly prepare for the championship bout. Trujillo recognized the advantage and began shifting his attack toward the body.

The adjustment paid off.

A devastating left hook to the liver sent Terrill crashing to the canvas. Terrill was unable to beat the count, giving Trujillo the knockout victory and another successful title defense.

Despite the one-sided finish, Trujillo showed respect for his opponent afterward, offering Terrill another opportunity to challenge for the championship — this time with a full training camp.

Gamboa Turns Back Talavera

Former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa turned in a veteran performance, defeating Yesner Talavera by unanimous decision.

At 44 years old, Gamboa controlled the largely one-sided contest by dictating the pace and keeping the fight in his preferred range.

The Cuban veteran methodically picked Talavera apart, limiting the younger fighter’s opportunities to build momentum.

Talavera’s most significant periods of aggression came in the clinch, where he repeatedly held onto Gamboa and stalled the action. The referee was forced to physically separate the fighters on multiple occasions.

Talavera was also deducted a point for an illegal takedown.

Gamboa ultimately cruised to the unanimous decision victory.

Blas Blasts Birr for Super Featherweight Title

Alberto Blas put his power on full display in his BKB Super Featherweight Championship fight against Brandon Birr.

Blas wasted little time getting to work, scoring the first knockdown with a powerful straight right.

Birr never had an opportunity to recover.

Blas followed up with a crushing right uppercut that ended the fight at 1:57 of Round 1, securing a dominant knockout victory and successfully defending his championship.

Gonzalez Makes Quick Work of George

BKB Cruiserweight Champion Yuniesky Gonzalez needed just 1:19 to retain his title against Ethan George.

Gonzalez immediately established his offense and found the mark with his jab, with the punch producing the first-round knockout.

It was another emphatic championship performance from Gonzalez, who gave George virtually no opportunity to settle into the fight.

Fuentes Battles Through Ugly Fight to Stop Diaz

Gilberto Fuentes defeated Auly Diaz by second-round knockout at 1:14.

Fuentes opened a cut over Diaz’s left eye in the first round, but the fight quickly became an ugly physical battle.

The two fighters repeatedly engaged in upper-body wrestling, with both men hitting the canvas hard multiple times.

Fuentes found success when Diaz attempted to press forward, using accurate counter punches to punish his opponent’s aggression.

That strategy ultimately produced the finish.

Fuentes landed a powerful right hook that ended the fight in the second round.

Rodriguez Makes Statement in Showcase Bout

Yampier Rodriguez moved up a weight class for a showcase opportunity and made the most of it.

Rodriguez stopped Tristian Harrison by knockout at 1:24 of Round 1, with his signature left hook providing all the damage needed.

The champion from the division below immediately showed that the added weight had done nothing to take away his power.

Rodriguez scored the first knockdown with the left hook, then delivered the same weapon again to close the show.

It was a quick and impressive performance in a bout designed to showcase what Rodriguez could do against bigger opposition.

Daimoni Outpoints Aspen Ladd

Bianca Daimoni earned one of the night’s decision victories, defeating former UFC fighter Aspen Ladd by unanimous decision.

The judges scored the fight 48-47 and 49-46 twice for Daimoni.

Daimoni’s long-range striking proved to be the difference. She consistently found success from distance, with her right hand becoming one of her most effective weapons throughout the fight.

The repeated right hands visibly damaged Ladd’s left eye, which was nearly closed by the end of the contest.

Daimoni stayed composed and maintained her range long enough to secure the unanimous decision.

Duran Jr. Wins After Spivey Suffers Leg Injury

Robert Duran Jr. defeated Ryan Spivey by first-round TKO at 1:49, but the fight never had a chance to fully develop.

Spivey injured his right leg very early in the contest and quickly became unable to push off of it effectively.

Duran Jr. took advantage of the compromised movement and scored two knockdowns.

The first came when Spivey’s injured leg gave out underneath him. Duran Jr. then followed with a flurry of punches that produced another knockdown.

With Spivey unable to continue effectively, the referee stopped the fight.
