Desert Dynasty Combat Promotions Returns With Battle in the Basin 2
A Lightweight championship is on the line Saturday in Alamogordo.
ALAMOGORDO, NM â Desert Dynasty Combat Promotions returns to the Tays Event Center this Saturday, September 12, with Battle in the Basin 2: Night of the New Crowns, bringing a 14-fight MMA card to Alamogordo. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Tays Event Center, 2400 N. Scenic Drive.
The professional portion of the card is headlined by a 155-pound championship bout between Richard Jennings (5-5)and Quinten Culpepper (7-2). The five-round title fight gives both fighters an opportunity to leave Alamogordo with championship gold.
Jennings a fifth degree black belt in tae kwon do defeated Josh Montoya in the FightWorld 45 main event by unanimous decision, just four weeks ago. Culpepper is the reigning NFC lightweight champion with finishes in six of his seven wins.
The professional co-main event takes place at 135 pounds as Donovan Garcia (0-2) faces Rustlan Mamedov (2-2) in a three-round matchup.
The amateur portion of the evening features its own championship doubleheader. In the amateur headliner, Angel Gallegos (6-0) puts his perfect record on the line against Elijah Quinn (5-6) for the 155-pound title. Gallegos has 100 percent finishing rate and already possessive the FightWorld and Empire promotions amateur 145-pound titles.
At 170 pounds, Devin Aguilar (3-0) meets Calvin Collins (2-1) for another amateur championship.
The rest of the amateur card features William Ortiz vs. Sonny Perez at 155, Thomas Haynie vs. Juan Utuarte at 130, and heavyweight action between John Holt and Demitrius Lopez.
The women’s matchups include Kayelin âKJâ Gutierrez vs. Shelly Doyle at 125 pounds and Kendra Lucore vs. Jace Trujillo, also at 125.
Rounding out the card are Yovis Perdomo vs. Samuel Biesterveld, Christian Chavez vs. Jayden Strauss, Logan Craft vs. Justin Marquez, Raymond Montoya vs. Devin Corwon, and Jaime Ceballos vs. Eric Cohn.
With two professional fights and two amateur titles on the line, Battle in the Basin 2 has plenty of championship stakes packed into Saturday night’s card.
