Leonardo Perdomo Continues to Dominate at BKFC 93
Cuban conqueror Leonardo Perdomo continued his remarkable run through the BKFC heavyweight division Friday night, needing just 14 seconds to dispatch Bear Hill in the main event of BKFC 93.
Perdomo wasted no time putting his power on display, landing two devastating left hooks that stunned Hill before the massive heavyweight hit the canvas. The victory moves Perdomo to 12-0, with an incredible 11 first-round knockouts.
Following the spectacular finish, BKFC President David Feldman made a major announcement: BKFC KnuckleMania VII will take place in Miami, with Perdomo set to challenge former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski for the BKFC Heavyweight World Championship.
The co-main event saw No. 2-ranked featherweight contender Bryan Duran earn a unanimous decision over veteran Charles Bennett. Duran scored an early knockdown and controlled much of the fight, but did hit the ground in the third, before dropping Bennett again in the closing seconds to secure the 48-44 scorecards across the board.
Andrew Strode earned another stoppage over Gee Perez, this time via doctor stoppage after three rounds of action. The bout featured multiple knockdowns and wild exchanges, with Strode’s left hooks creating a massive hematoma on the right side of Perez’s head. Strode will now await the winner of the October 17 bantamweight title fight between Jamel Herring and Johnny Dodson.
Interim BKFC Cruiserweight champion Esteban Rodriguez needed just 46 seconds to stop Steve Townsel. Rodriguez immediately attacked, scoring an early knockdown before a right hook spun Townsel into the canvas for the finish.
Rambo Russo delivered arguably his most complete performance to date, stopping Jancarlos Rivera in the third round. Russo controlled the distance with an active jab and tricky right hand before overwhelming a bloody Rivera and forcing his corner to throw in the towel.
James Rodriguez also scored a first-round knockout, cutting Murat Kazgan before dropping him with a chopping right hand. A right uppercut moments later ended the contest.
Ernesto Suarez edged Ronald Hauser by split decision in a competitive five-round battle. Suarez’s counter right hook produced a second-round knockdown, while Hauser answered by dropping Suarez with a left hook in the fifth.
Tyler Randall earned a majority decision over Chris Garcia after scoring a first-round knockdown with a left hook.
The preliminary card featured unanimous decision wins for Chino Blume and a pair of stoppages, with Adyam Devillafuerte scoring three knockdowns against Miguel Hinojosa and Eduardo Suarez finishing Jose Davila early in the second round.
But the night belonged to Perdomo. At 12-0 with 11 first-round knockouts, the Cuban heavyweight has officially earned his shot at BKFC gold.
