Bryce Henry Continues His Rise at BKFC Fight Night Mohegan Sun

Twenty-five-year-old sensation Bryce Henry continues to prove that those avoiding “Baba Yaga” may be doing the right thing. But with every performance, it becomes harder to deny Henry the big fights as he continues to present a puzzle his opponents have yet to solve.

Henry improved his BKFC record to 8-0 with a second-round knockout of former title challenger Carlos Trinidad-Snake. The jab-heavy Henry relied on his favorite weapon throughout the opening round and a half before finally unleashing his right hand. The first right hand put Trinidad-Snake on the canvas, and a second one folded him over and brought the fight to an end.

Following the victory, Henry called for fights against BKFC Welterweight Champion Dustin Pague, BKFC UK Champion Rico Franco, BKFC Middleweight Champion David Mundell, and BKFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lorenzo Hunt. Henry’s performance also prompted BKFC President David Feldman to promise the rising contender another fight before the end of the year.

Creer Continues His Winning Streak

It was a fourth consecutive victory for Joseph Creer, who opened a cut on Cody Vidal and put the “Knuckle Maniac” under constant pressure.

Creer took advantage of the openings Vidal gave him, attacking both the body and head while forcing the aggressive brawler into a technical, long-distance battle. From there, Creer was able to consistently pile up strikes and control the action.

Gambino Dominates Strydom

Joey Gambino dispatched former title challenger Tommy Strydom inside two rounds.

Gambino physically dominated Strydom during the opening round, scoring a knockdown before continuing to pressure his opponent. A leaping left hook caught Strydom and stopped him in his tracks, leading to the stoppage.

Navarro Calls Out Reber

Rising bantamweight contender Sito Navarro extended his winning streak to four with a comeback victory over Robert Fichtner.

After finding himself in trouble early, Navarro battled back and stopped Fichtner in the second round, connecting with a fight-ending shot to Fichtner’s eye.

During his in-ring post-fight interview, Navarro called out former title challenger and No. 2-ranked contender “Royal” Ryan Reber, asking for a fight on October 23, when BKFC returns to Clearwater, Florida.

Moutinho Makes His Mark

The deep BKFC featherweight division added another exciting name as UFC veteran Kris Moutinho put together an impressive dismantling of Mike Hernandez.

Moutinho steadily broke Hernandez down before landing a vicious body shot in the third round that brought the contest to an end via TKO.

Denning Survives Bushaw’s Comeback

One of the most exciting back-and-forth fights of the night saw Matt Denning stop Brandon Bushaw in the fourth round.

Denning scored knockdowns in both the first and second rounds, appearing to be firmly in control. Bushaw, however, refused to go away and mounted a furious comeback in the third, scoring three knockdowns of his own.

Denning halted the comeback in the fourth round, dropping Bushaw twice before finishing the fight with a clean right hand.

Lightning-Fast Finishes

BKFC has built its reputation on explosive action and quick finishes, and Fight Night Mohegan Sun delivered plenty of both.

Chris Perreault came out with all-out aggression, dropping Joe Powers twice in the opening minute. A left hook produced the first knockdown, followed by a right hook that ended the fight just 37 seconds into the contest.

The night began even faster, as Dominick Carey caught Jared Lennon with a counter left hook just 21 seconds into the opening fight, setting the tone for an action-packed night of bare-knuckle action at Mohegan Sun.
