4 Changes to UFC on FX 8

Stepping up on less than 3 weeks notice Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means (18-4-1) of Fit NHB, will be stepping in for an injured Bobby Greene (20-5) to face Danny “Last Call” Castillo (15-5) of Team Alpha Male; on July 27.

Means in is his last fight lost a decision to Jorge Masvidal that ended an 11 fight winning streak, while Castillo is coming off a decision win over Paul Sass, rebounding from losing by TKO to Michael Johnson.

The Heavyweight Grudge match between TUF 10 alums Matt “Meathead” Mitrione (6-2) and Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub (9-3) will have to take place another day as Mitrione has been forced to withdraw from the UFC on FX 8 bout due to injury. Mitrione most recently stopped a two fight losing skid with a knockout of Philip De Fries. Schaub is coming off ending his own 2 fight losing streak, but his ended with a decision win over Lavar Johnson.

With an injury to his original opponent Tarec Saffiedine and his replacement Siyar Bahadurzada, “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (20-9-0, 1nc) now has his third scheduled opponent “Vicous” Bobby Voelker (24-9). Lawler is coming off a TKO win over Josh Koscheck, the fight was not only the 1st one for Lawler in the UFC in almost 9 years; but was also a return to the Welterweight division. Voelker is coming off a debut at Welterweight, decision loss to Patrick Cote; that snapped a 3 fight winning streak.

Spencer “The King” Fisher, due to injury has pulled out of his scheduled bout with Yves Edwards (42-19-1) and will be replaced by Daron Cruickhank (12-3). Edwards last fought at UFC 156 losing a split decision to Isaac Vallie-Flagg. The last win for Edwards, came a bout prior when he scored a 1st round knockout win over Jeremy Stephens. Cruickshank most recently dropped a unanimous decision to John Makdessi, proceeded scoring a head kick knockout win over Henry Martinez.

UFC on FX 8 takes place on July 27 at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington; and is headlined by John Moraga challenging Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson for the UFC Flyweight title.
