Rosales Karate & Kickboxing on Friday, September 20th, honored the memory of Chance Tafoya, an ultra talented and important member of the team who passed away on August 4th, 2013; at the age of 22. The ring in which Chance and the rest of the team put work in will be now and forever be known as the Chance Tafoya Fighting Pit.

Chances’ mom Kim Berlat told me “Chance and his brother Sam love Martial Arts”, that “coach Tony and martial arts changed her sons lives”; “martial arts this is what Chance loved.”

Sam Tafoya said “This journey through martial arts, I wouldn’t have wanted to taken with anyone else. He pushed me to be great and try my hardest. Without him I wouldn’t’ be where I am today. Martial arts gave us an almost indescribable, unbreakable bond.” When I asked Sam out he got into martial arts? His quick answer way my brother got me into it. When asked about sparring with his brother “ he started off beating me up all he time, but over time I caught up. We had some great exchanges” Sam said.

Coach Tony Rosales just wanted to say “I miss him” when talking of Chance.

Chance Tafoya a son, brother, fighter a youth gone way to soon. The last time Chance fought at a Judgement MMA smoker he won by decision. The hole fight I remember watching and saying to myself wow this guy has talent.
