Season 9 Middleweight Semifinals at Bellator 102
The season 9 Bellator Middleweight tournament which saw the quarterfinal round be a featured part of Bellator 99, kicking off the 9th season; will see the semifinal round take place at Bellator 102 on October 4, at the Visalia Convention Center in California.
At Bellator 99 Mikkel Parlo (10-1) was dominate in a unanimous decision win over Brian Roger. Parlo will face Jason Butcher (7-0) who bounced back from a hard first round to TKO Give Santana in the 2nd round, advancing in the tournament.
On one days notice replacing Andreas Spang, Brennan Ward (7-1) closed the left eye and bloodied up former training partner Justin Torrey; on his way to a 2nd round stoppage victory. Colliding with Ward will be Perry Filinks (8-1) who forced Jeremy Kimball to tapout in the 3rd round due to a rear naked choke.
The winner of the season 9 Middleweight tournament is expected to face the winner of Doug Marshall (season 8 winner) vs. Alexander Shlemenko (champion) bout that was scheduled for Bellator 98, but instead due to a Marshall injury; saw runner up Brett Cooper challenge and lose to Shlemenko by unanimous decision.
