MFC 39: No Remorse Announces 1st 2 Match-ups
A new Lightweight kingpin will reign on top off the divisional kingdom after the co-main event of MFC 39, when Kurt “The Hurt” Southern (13-4) collides with Tom “Da Tank” Gallicchio (17-8) and at Welterweight Jason “The Mover” South (10-1) clashes with Gilbert Jamal Smith (7-2).
Current MFC Lightweight champion Graham Spencer (10-1) has been sidelined by injury for months and is still expected to be sidelined for so time. Spencer has also announced that apon returning to action he will fight at Featherweight vacating the Lightweight championship.
Southern has won 5 of 6 fights. “The Hurt” in his last 2 bout has has submitted Mukai Maromo and avenged a submission loss to Jonatas Novaes with a 1st round TKO victory.
Gallicchio is 5-3 in his last 8 bouts and is coming off a 1sr round submission of David Johnson ending a 2 fight skid.
South debuts at Welterweight after a 10 fight win streak at Middleweight, that was ended by 1 5th round TKO loss to Sam Alvey at MFC 38 in a Middleweight title bout. South has 9 of 10 wins by submission.
Smith a Alum of the 17th season of TUF has defeated Jason Lee (sub) and Donnie Liles (UD) since being submitted by Bubba McDaniel at The TUF 17 Finale.
MFC 39: No Remorse takes place January 17, at the Northlands Expo Center in Edmonton Alberta Canada. The main event has not been announced yet but is rumored to feature recently crowned MFC Heavyweight champion Anthony Hamilton (11-2).
