Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlie Silva Changes Dates
Recently announced co-main event for UFC 173 of Chael Sonnen (28-14-1) vs. Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva (35-12-1), has been pulled from the card and moved to a place were it makes more sense, to me.
Instead of taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada the meeting of TUF Brazil season coaches will take place in Brazil, as the headlining bout of a Fight Night card on May 13. An official reason for the move was not given. Nogeuira and Werdum coached the 2nd season of TUF Brazil and they fought in Brazil, TUF Smashes was filmed in Australia and the coaches fought in Australia, and the same goes for the TUF Nations season that was filmed in Canada; the coaches are scheduled to fight in Canada. It only makes sense to keep with consistency.
Sonnen has lost 3 of his last 4 fights all by TKO’s to Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, and Rashada Evans; Sonnen’s lone win in that time came by submitting Mauricio Rua.
Silva is 2-1 in his last 3 fight claiming knock out wins over Cung Le and Brian Stann; while the loss came by way of decision against Rich Franklin.
