Patrick Cummins Replaces Injured Rashad Evans against Daniel Cormier at UFC 170

Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion “Suga” Rashad Evans (19-3-1) has sustained a leg injury that will force him of his co-main event welcoming to the division of Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier (13-0).

Earlier today when news broke of the Evans injury, it quickly became rumor that the injury was not severe and that the bout was going to be rescheduled for UFC 172. Daniel Cormier at that point expressed huge disappointment of not being able to fight at UFC 170 and was pleading his case to stay on the card an face anyone.

Anyone has been found. On 9 days notice Patrick Cummins (4-0) a product of Kings and Reign MMA will make his UFC debut. Cummins comes from a wrestling background having earned All-American honors at Penn State. In 4 pro bouts Cummins has ended all 4 bouts in the 1st round with 2 knock outs and 2 submissions.

Cormier since joining the UFC has defeated both Frank Mir and Roy Nelson by unanimous decision.

UFC 170 is on February 22, at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada; headlined by Sara McMann challenging Ronda Rousey for the Women’s UFC Bantamweight title.
