Baca meets Martin on ESPN card
Matthew “Champ” Baca on Thursday posted on his facebook “Undefeated SMS Promotions lightweight prospect Ryan “Blue Chip” Martin (6-0, 3 KOs), fighting out of Cleveland, squares off with Albuquerque’s Matthew “Champ” Baca (4-1-1, 2 KOs) in the four-round ESPN opener.”
The event will be on July 2, at the Foxwood Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut; airing on ESPN2.
Baca had expected to face Carlos Villa (5-1-1) last weekend in El Paso, Texas, on the Iron Boy 13 card; but the event ended up being postponed. The “Champ” will be looking to build off a split decision win over Michael “Coca” Gallegos, from the January “Return of the Warrior” event at Buffalo Thunder Casino.
Martin is said to have had over 200 amateur bouts. Facing Baca will be Martin’s toughest test as his previous 6 opponent had 8 wins out of 30 bouts. Martin shares a promoter “50 Cent’s SMS Promtions” with Mark Daivs (18-0, 5 KO) who faces Michael Farena (38-4-4, 30 KO) in the main event; and Billy Dib (36-3, 21KOs) who taking on Alberto Garza (26-7, 21KOs) in the co-main.
