East vs. Cason Tops Legacy FC 40

Legacy FC’s first trip to the Peach stated will be headlined by Cody “The Freight Train” East (9-1) defending the Legacy Heavyweight title against Joe Cason (9-1).

Legacy FC 40 will take place on March 20^th, at Wild Bills in Atlanta, Georgia.

East has won his last 6 mma fights in a row, in the cage and is coming off winning the Legacy FC Heavyweight title in October,, with a 1^st round TKO of Vernon Lewis. The title is East’s 2^nd as in 2013, “The Freight Train” won the King of the Cage Heavyweight title. Before getting back in the cage East will be in the ring at the Buffalo Thunder Casino on January 24^th, against Manuel Eastmann. East boxed twice 2013 winning both bouts by (T)KO.

Cason an Iowa native, comes into the fight off a 1^st round TKO of Robert Morrow, which was Cason’s return to action after a over 2 year hiatus from the sport. Cason has 7 of 9 wins by (T)KO and has never been out of the first round.

The nights co-main event will see at Middleweight Tommy Jones (6-2) clashing with Dave Vitkay (14-12). Jones makes his Legacy debut on a 3 fight win streak, that includes TKO’s of Nick Grady and Warren Smith. Vitkay is on a 4 fight win streak and won his lats three fight, 2 by submission all in the Bellator cage. Vitkay most recently at Bellator 116 defeated Keith Berry by unanimous decision.

Also on the main card Bellator vet Rodrigo Lima (11-2) faces Matt Betzold (6-3). Lima has lost 2 of his last 3, all in Bellator. Lima is also scheduled to be in action on January 17^th, against Keith Richardson in North Carolina. Betzold has won 4 fights in a row submitting Rudy Kennedy, Gene Perez, Deondre Gibbs, and Jimmy Marquez.

TUF 13 alum Clay Harvison (12-5) and his 3 fight win streak will collide with Joe Elmore (9-6) , who’s won 3 out of 4.
