Invicta FC 15 Featuring Souza, Cyborg, Brown, & Esquible


In the main event of Invicta FC 15 the Strawweight title will be on the line, when DeAnna Bennett (8-0) challenges Livia Renata Souza (8-0) for the gold on January 16th at The Hangar at the OC Fair in Costa Mesa, California.

Bennette is 4-0 in Invicta with 3 straight decision wins. Most recently “The Argentine Assassin” defeated former title holder Katja Kankaanpaa at Invicta FC 15 with a unanimous decision. Souza has 7 of 8 wins via submission and is coming off an Invicta FC 12, promotional debut, 4th round, Triangle choke of Katja Kankaanpaa, capturing the promotions 115 title.

Cris “Cyborg” Justine (14-1) reportedly will be in action at 140lbs. against Cindy “Battlecat” Dandois (6-2). Justino is 5-0 in Invicta with 4 TKO’s having stopped Fiona Muxlow, Marloes Coenen, Charmaine Tweet, and Faith Van Duin. Germany’s, Danois is coming off a Invicta FC 14 submission of Megan Anderson.

New Mexico Wildbunch member, Amber “The Bully” Brown (5-1) takes on UFC vet Lisa Ellis (15-10). Brown has won 3 straight and is 2-0 in Invicta with a split decision win over Liz McCarthy and a rear naked choke of Catherine Costigan. Ellis has been competing professionally for over 11 years. The 20 TUF competitor will be looking to end a 2 fight skid that, saw her submitted by Felice Herrig and Bec Rawlings.

JacksonWink fighter Jodie Esquibel (5-1) squares off with UFC vet and TUF 20 alum Angela “OverKill” Hill (2-2). Esquibel is 3-1 in Invicta and coming off consecutive decision wins over Jinh Yu Frey and Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc. Hill will be looking to get back in the win column following losses to Tecia Torres (UD) and Rose Namajunas (submission).

In the Bantamweight division Hawaii’s, Raquel Pa’aluhi (5-4) faces Mexico’s Irene Aldana (5-2). Pa’aluhi is on a 3 fight win streak and is 2-0 in Invicta with decision wins over Kaitlin Young and Ediane Gomes. Aldana is 2-1 in Invicta, with submission wins over Peggy Morgan and Colleen Schneider, but will be looking to rebound from a failed title opportunity, losing via 4th round TKO to Tonya Evinger.
