New top of the Card for Bellator 158
It’s been a sad week for Combat Sports with the passing of the greatest Boxer of all time Muhammad Ali and internet sensation Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, who had been scheduled to have a rematch with James Thompson, in the main event of Bellator 158.
It’s unknown if at this time Thompson will remain on the card. The new main event for Bellator 158 will see Paul “Semtex” Daley (38-13-2) against Douglas Lima (26-6) who’ll serve as a replacement for injured Josh Koscheck.
Daley who has 28 career win via knockout, has won 5 straight fights including wins in the Bellator cage over Andre Santos (UD), Dennis Olson (TKO), and Andy Uhrich (KO). Lima has 12 knockout and 11 submission wins on his record. The American Top Team Atlanta member is a former MFC and Bellator champion, who’ll be looking to rebound from losing his title via unanimous decision to Andrey Koreshkov, at Bellator 140.
Also in another change on the main card Fernando Gonzalez is injured and Evangelista Santos (21-17) will now be facing Michael “Venom” Page (10-0). Santos made his promotional debut at Bellator 153 with a 1st round knee bar of then Welterweight number 1 contender Brennan Ward. Santos had a quick turn around that didn’t workout, suffering a 1st round TKO loss to Saad Awad at Bellator 154. Only once at Bellator 128 has “MVP” fought past the 1st round, a fight he win via unanimous decision over Nah-Shon Burrell. Page is now coming off a Bellator 153 1st round submission win,, via Achilles lock over Jeremie Holloway.
Bellator 158 is July 16 at the O2 Arena in London England.
