The UFC will be back in the Lone Star state on September 17th with UFC Fight night 94 at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas; and headlined by a between top 10 ranked Lightweights.
The main event will be a battle of Florida trained fighter as American Top Teams Dustin “The Diamiond” Poirier, the number 8 ranked Lightweight contender, meets Blackzilian Michael “The Menace” Johnson, the number 10 ranked 155 lbs. contender.
Since moving up to Lightweight Poirier has stopped Carlos Diego Ferreira (KO), Yancy Medeiros (tko), and Bobby Green (KO), in the 1st round; plus took a unanimous decision from Joseph Duffy. From August of 2013 to February of 2015, Michael Johnson won 4 straight with 2 decisions; but has since lost decisions to Beneil Dariush (split) and Nate Diaz (unanimous).
The co-main event is also a top twn match-up but in the Middleweight division with number 9 ranked Uriah Hall against, number 10 ranked Derek Brunson. Hall who was scheduled to face Anderson Silva at UFC 198, before Silva had to have his Gallbladder removed, will be looking to rebound a UFC 193, unanimous decision loss to Robert Whittaker. In his two bouts prior to the loss, Hall had scored TKO’s of Gegoard Mousasi and Oluwale Bangboose. Injury forced Brunson to pull out of a planned UFC 200 meeting with Gegard Nousasi. Brunson has won 4 straight with 3 of thevictories coming via 1st round knock out.
